Dear Mum,
I don't know how to begin this letter but I hope to scribble all my thoughts and emotions.
It's an obvious yearly reminder that every 12th of May, we all get to celebrate our mothers. Good thing it's just a reminder since each year I have a lot to be greatful for.
It's not an obvious move to give up on your youth, part of your life and dreams in order to give life to another human or rather "many more humans." This goes a long way beyond giving up on so many things and choosing a long term investment that you are not sure of it's returns.
Everyone has a story to tell but it's not the same as the one you and I have.
I celebrate you each day because at every chapter of my life you are involved and your hand is on it.
It's beautiful to talk about the sacrifices made by mums and choices she had to make, but we fail to talk about how brave they are to take such risks.
If it were upto logic you would have chosen a different path but your emotions are strong enough to keep you grounded to humanity.
I hear shaggy sing 'strength of a woman' and help him wonder if God is a woman, simply because we are all amazed by the tolerance and pain you endure at every stage the joy you bring in a home. Just like the unconditional love God has for the human race.
You not only run your race but run the race of each and everyone you touch. No one talks about it but being there for your kids at every stage of their life; in their painful chapter, graceful and glory you stand by them with loyalty. Most times with zero expectations but to see them happy and living their best life.
You stand right beside your husband even when the world doubts him you see the spark of light. You believe in him and his vision you pray that he may conquer the world and every obstacle but no one talks about it. It's assumed and seen as obvious.
When the world throw stones at you, no one seems to understand your tantrums or comes to your defense rather you seek it all from God. You wish one day everyone gets to understand but, it is what it is. The human nature takes the drivers sit.
Mum I am choosing to walk with you in every remaining chapter of your life as you've walked with me from the begining of my existence. I am not taking it as a debt but a form of thanks giving.
I am now a bold woman, a woman that understands her worth a woman that thrives for her spiritual life, and a healthy life because you've not only raised me to be a decent woman but a woman of substance and flourish in success fearing the lord and serving humanity.
I know the universe is happy because the work of your hands is visible in the woman I am becoming.
I hope and wish you a lengthy life, full of God's grace, love, happiness and health.
